I’m sure you are all familiar with the homemade laundry soaps, many are making.
I made a version of these, using these products, I later substituted Castile Soap for the Fels-Naptha, as I didn’t like the scent. I just found this version that uses Lemon essential oil. This should smell wonderful.
YOU’LL NEED:
1/2 Cup of Washing Soda
1/2 Cup Borax
1 Bar lavender Castile Soap (grated about 1 cup)
1/4 Cup baking soda
15 drops of lemon essential oil
INSTRUCTIONS;
Wearing gloves, add washing soda, borax, grated soap and oil to lidded container. Cover and shake well. Use 3 TBSP. per load, slightly more for very soiled clothes.
This is HE-friendly.

And here’s an Automatic Dishwashing Detergent;
YOU’LL NEED:
2 Cups of Washing Soda
2 Cups of Borax
25 drops of Grapefruit essential oil
Wearing gloves, mix washing soda, borax and oil in a bowl. Transfer to plastic container. Use 2 TBSP. per load. I also use vinegar in the rinse cycle to prevent spots. Works great.
GLASS CLEANER
YOU’LL NEED:
3 Cups Water
2 TBSL. Rubbing Alcohol
1/4 Cup Distilled Vinegar
5 drops of Lavender oil (optional)
1/2 TBSP. liquid Castile Soap
Mix all ingredients and pour into spray bottle. I make my own version which has just water and vinegar but I did like this for some of the more difficult dirty glass.

Thanks for all the info. I've mad the laundry soap before and it does work well. I need to make another batch....I've been lazy! LOL
ReplyDeleteSounds like too much work for me, but I'm passing this info on to my granddaughter, she'll love it.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
I have not tried to make my own cleaning products yet.I a some point will.
ReplyDeletegreat information.

I just made a whole big batch of this last week. I couldn't find the Castile soap though and had to use the Fels Naptha. I find it doesn't really have too much of a fragrance after it's washed but I do like the way the clothes are cleaning. My whites were getting kind of dingy with the regular laundry soap so I thought I'd give homemade laundry soap a try and they seem to be brightening up. I'd like to try the other recipes you posted. I'm so happy it's that time of the year to hang clothes out on the line. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI;ve been making my laundry soap for a few years now and love it. I tried a recipe for dishwasher soap but didn't like it. I'll have to try yours. Where do you put the vinegar for the dishwasher?
