I just love the old sepia toned pictures from the past. I get all nostalgic! I use to think I wanted to live in those wonderful days in the old romantic West….now I know better. Times were very difficult.
I love all the beat up, aged, and rusty items from the past. I can almost hear their stories. The worse the shape…the more the love.
Roses just say ‘tender romantic memories’ !
The house I grew up in was 75 years old, when I was just a child (a very long time ago)….I guess that’s why I have always love the old places…the old things. I couldn’t wait to make this coat rack, out of old door knobs, that I had saved for years. It’s really handy on the back porch. Check out this post, where I was featured on Funky Junk by Donna….http://cheneybaglady.blogspot.com/2011/02/ive-been-featured.html
Old washboards have the most incredible patina, dulled glass, scrubbed wood, burnished green copper…. Anybody hear the stories…I almost hear the clothes flapping in the wind!
It’s days like this, that make me yearn for the touch of my Grandpa’s hand, as he shaved with this very mug.
What stories do you hear?
I am linked to these fun gals:
Beautiful shots-They would make lovely photos for a wall.
ReplyDeleteI, too, often try to visualize the person behind the odject. What was their life like?
Your personal family items are really treasures. I know I value mine.
Oh Karen, you have so many wonderful old treasures. Your grandpa's mug is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love the old sepia pictures too.....
Sure wish I could take a stroll through your beautiful and interesting home.
Hugs,
Must use sepia tones in my pictures more often. Love the effect they give old "stuff" in photos. Once again, your blog is a work of art.
ReplyDeleteYour "junk" always ends up as treasures! I think about you alot...wishing you lived closer when something of mine goes to the metal recyling place...I always think I bet Karen would take that!..
ReplyDeleteOMGosh..yippee!! it took the comment with one click...maybe they got things fixed!! or what did you do different?
ReplyDeleteWOW, I love your photography and all your setups. MY fav is the door knobs, I too grew up in a house with glass door knobs. I have the old glass towel racks from the house but sadly I could not take the knobs. Awesome knob rack you made and the wood you chose for it.
ReplyDeleteOh wow....I just love it all!!
ReplyDeleteThat first photo is my favorite; gorgeous shots and the sepia tones are truly beautiful to your vignettes!
ReplyDeleteSuch wonderful vignettes! You've really captured the atmosphere of days gone by with the sepia-toned images.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking to the party. I love having you join the fun.
Have a wonderful weekend!

ReplyDeleteJ'adore.
Hello! I just found your blog, and loved the fact that you are from Cheney! I went to Eastern and graduated in 2009, and currently live in Spokane. I found a chair very similar to the one in your first picture with a "free" sign in the old patterson hall a couple years back. I got several looks while carrying that one to the car! Great blog! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI've been looking through your blog ~ your photos are works of art! The sepia tone in this post is very evocative of 'the old west'... great post!
