Bath Remodel

m 003

Several years ago, I remodeled this downstairs bath. The beautiful claw foot tub was wrapped with wood, so that was the first thing to go. I suppose an older person, found it hard to step into, so they removed the legs, and lowered it to the floor. And this part, you won’t believe, I found the feet in the basement! I completely removed everything from this bathroom and even opened up the wall (to the left) to include more than half of the back porch. m 006

I also removed the wall hung sink and placed bead board all around the lower half of the bathroom. A new pedestal sink and vintage accessories; finished it off. I laid new concrete subfloor backer board and tile. The advantage to this new addition to the bath was a new and complete laundry room! I just could not stand the washer and dryer in the kitchen, any longer! It looked like appliance row…fridge, stove, portable dishwasher, washer, dryer…..just too much! I have since remodeled the kitchen, as well.

I lost back porch space but gained a lot more in the kitchen. I am ready for some new towels and a shower curtain in my bath. I plan to make the shower curtain, if I can find some chenille. I would like to do a patchwork and chenille one.

Doing all the work myself, saved me a ton of money (I didn’t have!) although, I did send the tub out to have it refinished. I couldn’t be happier with the results….. now to find just the right door with glass. The one I just put on my office would have been perfect!

  5. You're so amazing, I can't believe you did all of this!!! Everything looks beautiful!!! How lucky for you that the claw legs were saved and you found them....
You saved yourself a ton of money doing this yourself, but most people, like me, wouldn't have a clue how to do anything like you've done.
    Great work!!
