Chicken Spouts

                                  sprouts xmas 001

I bought 30# of Mung Beans to sprout for my girls; Eleanor Roosevelt, Amelia Earhart, and Rosa Parks.

misc 006  I was so excited when they were ready a few days later.  I took some out and threw them out to the girls, while they were doing their walkabout.  Not a lot available for them this time of year…so cold.

To my utter shock and dismay, they didn’t want them at all!  What was I going to do with 30# of these?

I tried again two days later and put some raw oatmeal in with them….they ate them right up.  Whew!

I love sprouts but couldn’t see eating 30# anytime in the near future.

  1. Lucky and beautiful chickens! Your girls pose perfectly for your camera! Sunshine and all! Good that they will help you eat up those sprouts! Have a great day, Karen! Luv ya lots!

  2. You must have the healthiest fed chickens around! Do these taste good for we humans?

  3. I have seen those at the farmers market and never knew what to do with them. Now I know, I wonder if my picky parrots would love some sprouts?

    Your girls are lovely!

  4. Well, they definitely have their preferences, don't they?? Thank goodness the oatmeal worked!
