Simple Country Moments

country moments 005

I love hanging my laundry on the clothesline.  Twice a year I wash all the rugs.  I will miss it now as it has gotten so cold.  Do you hang out your laundry?

  2. I hang my laundry when ever possible. I love crisp bed sheets of my bed from hanging to dry. Oh, the fresh smell. Weather has changed so now it's dryer time, sad!

  3. I live in the city so that is almost impossible because of all the pollutants in the air. But, when we were kids living on the ranch, they hung out the laundry all the time...even used a wringer washing machine...telling my age! Thanks for sharing.

  5. Yup, I do! I think it's funny because when we were growing up my mom made us hang clothes out ALL the time, even in the winter. They would freeze and then we'd have to bring them in the house to thaw and dry. I swore I'd never hang clothes outside when I had my own home. For several years I didn't most of the time, but then several years ago I decided that it was time to rekindle that old family tradition. And, I hang clothes out even in the winter, unless it's snowing and there is no promise of sunshine. Because we live in a dry climate and have lots of sunshine, even in winter, clothes can dry fairly quickly. So, I will continue to do so, using the drying only if necessary. Love the smell of my laundry dried in our clear, clean fresh Colorado sunshine and country air!

  7. I love those simple pleasures in life, Karen. I hang out all our bedding and the whites...but always use the dryer for my towels because we like those soft. There is nothing in the world that smells as wonderful as crawling into a bed that has fresh line-dried sheets on it! xo Diana

  8. Love the photo. Yes I hang my laundry outside, except during the winter months. It is a spiritual routine stemming from my childhood days spent with my grandmother. It takes me back to those times and makes my heart sing.

  9. Indeed I do. I love to hang out my laundry. I don't use a clothes dryer from about April to October!
    Lovely photo!

  10. yepadoodle, I have been using my clothes line all summer, in fact I had jeans hanging on Thursday...
But now that it is getting colder and raining (much needed) I will have to resort to using the dryer and also my little portable clothes line (I found at IKEA) and place stuff in the sunny bathroom... I luv drying things w/o the use of a drier...
And yep, I just laundered 5 crochet rag rugs 2 weeks ago and let them dry outside... why not take advantage of natures 'solar dryer'...
