Thrifty Time Tuesdays

I renamed my TTT posts and that’s because I am talking about being ‘thrifty’ today.  Many of us have had to tighten our belts in many areas, as of late.  Whether it’s of necessity or just for fun, cutting back is a challenge but it can also be a satisfaction….a ‘job well done’.  Maybe it entails making meals stretch a bit further, hanging your clothes to dry, turning down the heat, walking more, driving less, decorating the house with thrift store finds….any number of these takes us back to a simpler time.

And look at all the exercise you got!  A nice side benefit.

No more goofing off……..you’ve got meals to plan and housework to do.  Doing things the simple way takes a bit longer but that’s ok….you’ll just love the rewards.

HU032666Ah, but you can socialize with your friends and neighbors….in a good old gab fest.  No TV required!

I like the simpler life and I try to do a lot of these things….it makes my life more fun and interesting.  I like the sense of accomplishment.  As a matter of fact, I am headed for the couch right now.  The TV is on and I am ready to crochet a few dishcloths!  Viva…the simple way!

  1. You're right... the simpler way can be much more fulfilling at times too. Love the old black and whites!

  2. I really enjoyed these pictures from the simpler days that weren't really that long ago. Darning the socks, oh my! I remember my mom sewing patches on our pants when we had holes in the knees. OK, I did that with my boys too, but they were iron on by then.

Ahhhhh , for the good ole days. Only problem, I wouldn't have a computer.... I betcha I'd be thinner though, not sitting on my behind too much.

  7. Yep, I think many folks are cutting back and trying to live a more simple life. One thing I do not want to have to cut back on or live without is the computer. I can cut back on food and other things but not that, its an addiction and one I do not want a cure from. I would miss the blogs I follow too much.
