This reminds me of the time we were in the NW and they were baling those big round bales...the JD tractor was just spitting them out one right after another. I had never seen it before. We must have watched it for a hour...doesn't take much to entertain us..ha!
Yes, this is alfalfa and the purple weed is Vetch...which I hear all farmers hate. It is a vine that probably gets wrapped around their equipment all the time.
