Sweet Pleasures..

girls 018

My girls have decided, that it might be nice enough to do a ‘walk about’ each day….finally.  It has been hard to get them out of the coop this winter.  Who can blame them?

Not that the Chicken Mansion is anything to scoff at….  It’s light and airy, there’s art work and a pleasant bed.  I have since added nesting boxes and branches for roosting.

Micky came on the scene late in the game, I got him last June when he was six months old.  And I didn’t know he was a rooster!  I sure loved watching him decide what he wanted to be…he is so shy and gentle.  I am lucky to have a rooster like that, as many are very unruly.

Eleanor is the friendless….just a sweetheart.  She always bows down for a pet whenever I am around….and she lets me hold her…that doesn’t happen with Amelia, she is the independent type.  I guess I named her right!

My girls and guy, give me a lot of pleasure and I will be adding to their company this Spring.  I will get at least three more little ones to start in the house.

  2. Your girls are so cute. I have 10 chickens now. We started with 20 but have lost so many.. I do not give them names because it is so sad when I lose them. But I can tell them apart. They are so different and friendly.

  6. I can't remember if I have ever pinned the chicken mansion to my coop board, so I'm gonna do it again.

  7. Your chickens have it made..Yes, You are lucky to have a friendly rooster..maybe it's because he's the only one? My step daughter(Bee Haven Acres) had an attack rooster named "Hank"..He attacked "Hubs" once too often..Bye Bye Hank.. Good pictures of them...

  8. LOVE Amelia's floppy comb! What a sweet little flock you have. Curious to see which breeds you add this year. Your coop is adorable! The only thing missing is The Chicken Fountain (Google it, you'll think you died and went to chicken waterer heaven!).

Thanks for linking up with the Clever Chicks Blog Hop this week! I hope you'll join us again!

  9. Lucky chickens!! Every coop should have a number on it so they can get their "air mail.." As soon as all our snow melts I am going to spiff up the coop a bit. You have inspired me. Come visit my Vermont herd and flock when you have a chance: www.tailgait.blogspot.cmo
