Nostalgia

MJ 020

Barron Flour Mill in Oakesdale, WA, owned by Mary Jane’s Farm (see the link on the sidebar), is three stories high but no longer in use. It is about an hour’s drive from Mary Jane’s farm. Last summer she put on a Farm Fair and I was lucky enough to visit this beautiful, remarkable building, which is now on the National Register of Historical Places.

The simple rustic beauty, took my breath away.

So much character; sweat, hard work, love and craftsmanship are on display here.

When I was inside, I was in another world, I lost all sense of time. The smell of the old wood, the dust, the creaking floors and streaks of sunlight through the siding, all became a part of me. I actually, felt a bit of sadness, for a simple time, long past.

What good memories! Grace (Katmom at MJ’s) and I adding an ‘old time’ picture to my collection.

  1. I was there too last year...probably saw each other and didn't even know it! It was a nice day for sure ...loved everything about it. We did the longest yard sale that weekend and ended up at CDL...didn't want to leave!
