Blast From the Past Thursdays

Scan0040

Yep, that’s my family….and that’s our vintage Mercury trailer!  Ladies first; my Mom, cooking on the Coleman, me, brother Mark, and then Brian…he was always the goof off…the class clown, two years younger than me.  I loved him to death.  Both these boys are gone now.  But I look back on these camping memories as some of the best I ever had.  No wonder I am a Sister on the Fly and a Maryjane Farmgirl!

  3. Isn't that awesome!!!! You look like Mama! This gripped my heart. I'm so sorry you have lost your brothers. I have 4 brothers, and we are all so close. We grew up camping too. Old smelly canvas tents! Loved it!
    Hugs,

    1. Funny you should mention that, I can still bring that smell back! I liked it. We spent a lot of time camping as real little kids in a tent and even after we got the trailer, unless it was raining we slept in pup tents.

  9. Sigh... what memories.... your photo brought back memories of camping with my family up by Mt. Hood (by the little town of Rhododedron). Alot of times, we just "day camped" and I remember that old Coleman.. and sometimes mom would fry up the spuds in her old cast iron pan, over an open fire... I still can smell them cooking and that fresh mountain air... oh that was wonderful. Sometimes we could "camp", not in a tent as they didn't have one, but they used a big old canvas tarp that they somehow hooked to the side of their 1949 Chevrolet (fondly called Pansey) and we slept under it, my 2 sisters and I. Oh such memories of the good ole days! Sometimes I just long to go up into the mountains for those smells of the damp earth, fresh air and those cedars... I still get so nostalgic when I smell them!

  10. So cute! I remember camping in the Sequoia National park...the concept of the smell of bacon BURNING on the open flame still brings back awfully fond memories.
