Smart Tips Tuesday-Mailbox Makeover

Back in the day, we looked forward to getting our mail......
Now days, it seems to bite us in the .......

as we get slammed with tons of solicitations (fancy word for junk) ....

we just don't want to touch it.....

Instead of flying by the seat of your pants, why not get control of all that junk mail? If you are like me, I have a pile of junk mail to pitch everyday, more than actual mail. There are several ways to handle this problem.
Register to get your name off junk mail lists. BECAUSE: Printing junk mail wastes 100 MILLION trees a year. Canceling can reduce your intake by 35 pounds a year.
Sign up at: http://www.dmachoice.org/ they will keep you off mailing lists for five years but could slam you with junk mail if you forget to reup.
Or sign up at the USPO on form 1500. It's a great way to get rid of junk mail. This is usually for sexual based material but you have say so on what material comes into your house and if you say you don't want it they will honor it.
Avoid customer surveys, sweepstakes, product warranties, registrations and loyalty cards.
Or get rid of junk mail without any hassles at http://www.private-citizen.com/ or http://www.41pounds.org/ each has a fee.
So if your mailbox runnth over, you may want to try one of these. And while we are at it, here is the info for protecting yourself from unwanted telemarketing calls on your home phone, as well as your CELL PHONE. Registering is free. On line at http://www.donotcall.gov/ phone: 1-888-382-1222, you must call from the phone you want to register.

  2. Now that's some mailboxes! You asked about my little heater/fireplace. Yes, it is portable! I can "plug" it in anywhere! I love it and it puts out the heat! I got it at Lowes.

    Have a wonderful day!
